about

Stepping off the train, Pluto glanced at the dilapidated brick building in front of him. Amber streetlights swarmed by moths cast dramatic shadows on the various cracks in the structure. He let out a sigh, still weirded out from not being able to see his breath.

“Suppose the gang’s waiting on me.”

Circling around the side of the building, Pluto ventured into the dark alleyway. Coming around to the back of the building, his eyes spotted the glinting, neon-blue “OPEN” sign Yama managed to snag. He shook his head. “We’re gonna have the police banging down our door any day now.” Walking towards it, he nearly tripped over the open cellar door beside the sign. Pluto rolled his eyes. “Because we’re just not obvious enough around here…” He muttered to himself. Walking down into the cellar, Pluto pulled his keyring from his orange hoodie. Fumbling for a bit, he eventually found the black one that would unlock the door at the bottom. Just before he reached it, he turned around and closed the cellar door behind him. Another sigh.

“Yoooooo, Pluto! What’s good?”

Yama pointed towards the door as it opened, Pluto grinning a bit - even if he didn’t want to. Yama was the kind of guy who carried an energy with him, and he loved to share it. He got up out of the red bean bag chair and walked over to Pluto, fist-bumping him. Yama was wearing the same old blue tracksuit jacket with ridiculous amounts of gold jewelry. Pluto suspected most of it was fake, but it didn’t make it any less gaudy. Yama threw an arm around him. “Oh, MAN do I got a story for you…”
Pluto took in the pad. Even with Yama blabbering, it was a pretty relaxing place. It was a pretty big cellar, so it made the perfect place for the gang to hang. Lava lamps were situated in every corner - some blue, most red, the occasional pink on a shelf or table. Persephone was responsible for them, and it wouldn’t take much to make a case for addiction, but they looked nice. Currently, she was playing pinball with Osiris watching on. Osiris insisted on buying arcade machines for the pad, and held all the highest scores - which were only challenged by Persephone; everyone else was kinda forced to play them.
Santa M. owned the spot, and his bedroom was at the back, hidden behind a bead curtain. He actually bought a console and flatscreen for the main room, much to Osiris’s dismay. That’s what Pluto and Yama messed around with most. Hel, on the other hand, was always tinkering with the speakers. Like Osiris, she bought them herself. No matter what, the speakers “were never in the right spot,” according to her. They never could totally drown out the train passing by, so she always insisted on everyone helping her move them. Santa M. didn’t mind too much. He essentially had his friends furnishing his home for them, so he couldn’t complain.

“-and oh my god, they were all gone by the time any Reaper could get there! Crazy, right?”
Pluto snapped back to attention. “Oh, yeah. Totally, uh, crazy.”
“You good, dude? Not spacing out on me, yeah?”
“Yeah, I’m good.” Pluto smirked. “Think I just need to hang for a bit.”
